You know—those photos of young women holding up signs that read things like, “I don’t need feminism because I am capable of critical thinking,” or “I don’t need feminism because I am not a delusional, disgusting, hypocritical man-hater.” I shook my head, rolled my eyes, but still, these weird declarations chilled me. Feminism is a demand for equal rights for women in all areas of life, yet it has become a word with endless connotations. It's pretty phenomenal. The author explores contradictions within herself, feminism, and society without even *trying* to satisfactorily explain or unravel them. So much I could relate to, but also so much that I'd never thought about.
