But personaly we will choose Sydney when we move back. You need to be a member in order to leave a commentSign up for a new account in our community. '4 seasons in 1 day' is often a phase used to describe the Melbourne weather.thanks for the input melba/tracy 123 :v_SPIN: although we do enjoy walks/bike rides/days doing nothing but chilling out I enjoy the city life that Manchester has to offer - and I'm not entirely sure Canberra would give us that. canberra would be to boring for me.I have been to melbourne and in summer it gets in the 40s and they have days of it, but some days you do have 4 seasons in one day manly in the spring and autum. Sydney isn't that far away for a big night out (we often stay away for the weekend in B'ham/Leeds/London/Sheffield over here) but its not an option for mid-week/every weekend. ), Tracy (35), Jake (7), Jessica (2) & Joseph (1) :jiggy:Geoffrey (32, an aussie!! “It’s generally colder than usual for this time of year for most of southeastern Australia including Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide,” he said. ), Tracy (35), Jake (7), Jessica (2) & Joseph (1) :jiggy:Geoffrey (32, an aussie!!
Our ideal day (when its not bl*&%y raining!) The old adage of lies, damned lies and statistics applies, so the averages have to be treated cautiously. For example, in January, the tables show Melbourne and Sydney have almost the same The reality is that Sydney’s summer temperatures are much less variable than Melbourne’s. Country Victoria has some great towns and are well worth the drive, you don't need to travel far for wine tasting. Its up to you night life however is not just clubs as you are aware, going out for meals we have some wonderful restaurants in and around Melbourne and just wondering around these areas at night are great. It's up to you Melbourne isn't everyone cup of tea but its alot larger than canberra with alot more things to do and see etc.You can have great days out in Victoria or weekends! If anyone can give me a comparison between Manchester weather and Melbourne weather that would be good - the stats on weather websites just show that they have comparable amounts of rainfall and Melbourne is about 5 degrees warmer. Is there a decent nightlife, lots of places to go see etc? It's easy!Hi, my boyfriend and I are trying to decide between Canberra and Melbourne as potential places to live (we've decided Sydney would be too big/expensive, Perth too remote and for some unspecified reason he won't entertain Adelaide or Brisbane). Sydney is just up the road and you can go for the weekend if you want a taste of the seething metropolis.Absolutely nothing wrong with it - it used to have the MK feel to it and in the outer suburbs:arghh: it still does, but who wants to live in the outer suburbs of either place.Actually, as far as anywhere in Aus it is probably one of the better places but, heck, I am on a plane out of here this morning and it cant come a moment too soon - only bad thing is that I am only going home for a month then they will be dragging me kicking and screaming back to this side of the world (DH is coming with me so he probably will!!!! Still air you don’t feel the cold, so lighter winter clothes are more than fine. '4 seasons in 1 day' is often a phase used to describe the Melbourne weather.Yep, seen that one a lot on various websites/books etc. ), the commuting, house prices in relation to proximity to the CBD but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of going out/eating out/things to do in the same way as Melbourne. Night life of the type you may want is mostly confined to the inner areas around the city, with it becoming more plebian the further out you go into the suburbs, however of course a nice house in the leafy mid-inner suburbs will cost you a fortune these days.
If you mean, 'Why is Canberra colder than cities in Australia further to the south? ', well, because almost all Australian cities except for Canberra are located on the coast, and coastal temperatures vary much less than inland temperatures due … Of course you can go for weeks without rain, I think however this is the wrong time of year to ask as it's winter even people in Brisbane are saying its cold 20+ It's up to you Melbourne isn't everyone cup of tea but its alot larger than canberra with alot more things to do and see etc.You can have great days out in Victoria or weekends!
I am biased as I'm moving to Melbourne in a few weeks - !! there are so many conflicting stories - all i want is somewhere where it will stay sunny and warm for at least a week at a time - instead of raining at least part/all of every day.Melbourne weather = changeable. is a bike ride out, followed by leisurely late lunch in town watching the world go by, then a night out with friends at a restaurant or club. If Melbourne got as much rain as Manchester it would not be in drought!!!! It was about 6 degrees - its only been 9 degrees here some nights and its summer!Definitely be doing some wine-tasting - my parents live in the south of france so I'm going to miss nipping over and visiting the vineyards there, no doubt the Aussie vineyards will make up for it.The consensus so far appears to be Melbourne then....'The consensus so far appears to be Melbourne then....'OK, I'll bite - of course Canberra is much better but if you want a big city then, no of course it isnt a big city and you would be daft to think it would be.
