From day one, I was able to sit down with the President of the company, Steve Goodrick, and learn the tools of the trade.
Eventually, DC took its toll on me and I decided to head back home and settle down. They'll discuss key political issues and developments of the week and their opinions on it as well as potential disagreements amongst the team on the issues. I didn't know it at the time, but the skills I learned there opened more doors for me in life than my expensive college degrees ever would. If you're lazy and looking for a job sitting at a desk and getting paid while playing on Facebook for 2 hours out of an 8 hour work day, Rainmakers isn't the place for you. The mission of the Rainmaker Companies is to drive holistic cultural shifts within professional firms that generate tangible results and deliver a clear path for sustainable growth.
Like a previous review said, it's a grind -- especially when you start.I worked at The RainMakers Organization full-time for more than 3 years-Few limits to what you can be involved in. -You have to grind to make money. If you aren't a good fit, they'll know. I didn't know it at the time, but the skills I learned there opened more doors for me in life than my expensive college degrees ever would. -Not for the weak. For anyone looking to quickly build credible work experience and is willing to work for it, Rainmakers is the place. If it is anything like it was while I was there, the team members will be opinionated and political. For anyone wanting to take advantage of that, Rainmakers offers opportunity, but it'll quickly burn out anyone who is lazy. To that end, we’ve spent decades searching for the best talent and evolving proprietary offerings that continuously integrate new technologies and methodologies. It can be difficult to keep up the energy. I started asking a lot of questions, and the CEO took the time at least twice a week to personally review my work and help me get better.
Not everyone loves this work. The Rainmakers were formed in 1983 as a three-piece bar band called 'Steve, Bob and Rich,' which "quickly became popular throughout the Midwest," according to one Amazon review. Also important to note is no one is shaming you or coming up with silly "Performance Improvement Plans" if you don't hit magical numbers, you just won't be bringing home a big check until you retool your approach.I worked at The RainMakers Organization full-time for more than a yearI spent just a little under two years working for the RainMakers in their Virginia office.
On a positive note, management wants you to be successful, your success and financial pay is directly correlated to well performing political events, projects and campaigns which is directly correlated to management's success. Knowing that all senior staff started on the ground floor was my biggest inspiration, and it's clear they are looking for resilient personalities to promote. So if you're weak, this isn't the place for you. Lo and behold, I had a natural skill for communicating with donors over the phone and writing letters. Phone calls aren't fun, but they do offer instant feedback and a laboratory to study what works and what doesn't. By putting his advice to work, I was able to rise quickly through the ranks and was trusted with more responsibility -- traveling across the country to meet with top donors and working directly with elected officials. Fast forward five years, I am still involved with fundraising and have single-handedly raised million of dollars to help organizations near and dear to my heart, including volunteering my time to raise $180,000 for a Christian camp I used to attend as a kid in order to build them a brand new lodge after the foundation crumbled under the old one and they were going to shut the whole camp down. Fundraising isn't the glamorous lifestyle you're used to seeing on TV. Fundraising is a never-ending quest, after all. I worked at The RainMakers Organization full-time for more than a year. I think I was a little too young and immature during my years in DC to fully understand how impactful this opportunity at The RainMakers was, but hindsight is always 20/20. I was usually anxious to get back to the office to have a light political debate with my coworkers. Teaching junior employees and entrusting them with projects is a practice I try to replicate now as I am further along in my career. If you are the type of person that needs micromanaging, this is probably not the right job. Coworkers would help me if I needed it because we would rotate supporting each other's events at crucial times. Call me naive, but I knew they were working for a long list of political candidates and causes that really mattered to me. Developing and implementing a planned giving program is of paramount importance to the future income of your campaign.Your campaign will increase overall donor engagement and satisfaction by enhancing your communication techniques, drastically increasing the likelihood of major gifts in the future.Connecting conservative political candidates directly to the nation's top donors.Raise PAC money through research, targeting, email and phone solicitation as well as coordination with state and district efforts, tracking, and concise follow-up.The keystone of a successful fundraising program is a thorough understanding of how to move donors from small gifts to more generous ones, and ultimately to transformational donations.Communications must be produced and delivered on-time, at maximum cost efficiency, with the highest quality possible to achieve optimal results. Our seasoned team designs and produces galas, awards dinners and PAC events of all kinds. Come to think of it, I didn't even know fundraising was a profession then. I eventually started travelling and meeting with big donors all over the country, and learned even more about the trade there. Rainmakers offers a fantastic opportunity for young people looking to break into conservative fundraising or campaigning. While traveling for work seems glorious, it's actually exhausting.
