Why have you needed the spinal taps?
After half an hour, they sent me off to do a spinal tap. After 5 days in hospital due to extremely bad headache, a blood patch was performed; with almost immediate relief.I am home from the hospital after anterior hip surgery.
They go back to the store-and hunt for the money. I waited about 5 minutes for the doctor who explained what he was about to and to let him know if I start to feel different than I did then. I'd count one--- Mississippi two --- Mississippi and I'd ask them why in h#** were they lying to me-was this the first time they did this? The doctor and female corpsman were reminded that some 200 lb Marines were the same way by the male corpsmen that were willing to be my character witnesses. If I understood the doctor properly, it is to determine whether my spine is leaking, which changes the pressure in my head and then causes my migraines to get worse with the slightest physical exertion. There is only one place that blood can be drawn from on my left arm. I just relaxed and they gave me sedation. Thanks.Liz, Hope you caught my message left way out of order above.
The medical assistant that I had, wiped down my back 3 times and then stuck the needle in (no pain killers).
Lying flat seemed to help this condition. My son had a spinal tap done 5 days ago. She was told to find another specialty-and the officer would sign the papers. After the procedure I was lying down for six hours. The next morning I couldn't move, everything stiff, everything sore. (Also my best friend had one too, and they didn't even remember). I'd go in for lab work and they'd tell me to look away and they'd lie-a second more. He fainted and came out fighting.
So the next patient came in.
I am now 60 with degenerative disc disease. My 5 year old great grandson is having an MRI and spinal tap this very minute. It would be wonderful to find out what is causing the headaches! But now, 20 hours after my procedure I’m having severe back pain in the area where they did it. :))I was completely at ease taking colonoscopies.
I hope nothing is found and all is successful.I was taken to hospital and given a spinal tap without any anesthetic and had something (I don't know what) shoved up me. I weighed 80 lbs, which was in my favor. I have had IV Valium for dental procedures before that did work beautifully, so never dreamed the pill form wouldn't do just as well. I was told the same thing-twilight, answer questions-blah I went out while the doctor said, "Now" The only twilight was I really heard was 'good she finally ... "Somebody asked why can't they do a cat scan.
Once all fluid was received he brought me down and lowered my pressure by 16 1/2. My X had trouble- but his gut is real twisted-lots of bends.
Two days later an anesthesiologist tried and was successful on the first try. !Thanks for your great advice.
We happened to come in at the same time. since then the lower back pain set in. The doctor again was barely able to get what was needed.
Sometimes I've been stabbed about 6-9 times to get blood or an IV started. Well that's my story and thanks for listening.I received the spinal tap early Tuesday morning, and I am still experiencing a headache and back pain. So, they have to talk to some wimp and they tell him it's agony-they couldn't walk-my son hooked his toes on a bed rail, and laid with his head on the floor, and screamed. I don't understand why.I’ve had a lumbar puncture done unsuccessfully in both the sitting and fetal position. The storekeepers were fat, and the sailors with the dolly were tall and fit. That procedure hurt the entire time it was being performed.I received a spinal tap yesterday at the hospital and it was painful from start to finish. Nothing to it, no head ache -no trouble walking or sitting or sleeping-They all had spinal damage and surgery. I'd sit on the floor, talk to my son and try not to cry.My son fainted a lot from the pain-but like I said-the other guy-the wimp was running around-flirting-no pain-no problemsIt is the worst thing ever.
This happened in Slovenia.I was about 8 or 9 years old when I received a spinal tap to diagnose if I had bacterial or viral meningitis.
It was done guided with the machine. I'm very worried about "waking up" in the middle of it and jumping from my experience of waking up during my colonoscopy screaming and making it far worse. A smart phebologist won't argue with me when I hold out my left arm and say-right here- Some say, 'let me look at your right arm.' It was a deep ache that made me almost nauseous and every time they moved or relocated the needle it was agony. They did not do that for me as soon as it was over they had me up. I stayed the night in the hospital and was sent home the next day even though my headache was still severe. Take care and I really hope you have a better experience then me,Liz.Oh my goodness Liz. My son and the marine told how horrible it was-this scrawny wimp says that there's nothing to it. ©2020 WebMD, Inc. I was discharged 2 hours later. Spinal Tap. We comply with the HONcode standard for trustworthy health information - He injected lidocaine and advised of the sting associated which I felt about 3 times. Good luck! Whether you got the head pain because they didn't have you lie down for a while afterward, I don't know. I could feel her hitting a bone several times and could feel her moving the needle around in my spine. I am apparently immune to most pain easing drugs and I really needed them because I am very anxious about medical procedures. They clearly think that I will be in enough pain that they need to sedate me for the measurements that they are doing.
This can happen.I see this is an old question so I'm very well aware that you now know that "sedation" is a 10 mg Valium. I hope they can find out what is causing your bad migraines, i get them too, but nothing like you do. The only part that hurt was the numbing, and I sort of felt the spinal tap go in, but it wasn’t bad at all. First I was made to lean over, then lie on my back.
